The Great American Folk Music Festical of the 1960's!
Lecture by Steve Pollack at 10:30am (Hybrid):
It is commonly thought that protest singers and political songs represent folk music, especially represented by activists, such as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs and Pete Seeger. However, Folk Music has nothing to do with politics or social issues. What happened in the 1960’s that made Folk Music so popular and made it seem different than what it really was during this decade? At this presentation, Steve Pollack will provide some history and perspective that addresses this question.
Musical Performance with Steve Pollack at 1:30pm (in-person only)
